Bulk Bag Discharger Weigh Batching A weigh batching bulk bag discharger system can improve batching efficiency and reduce ingredient and handling costs. A loss-in-weight bulk bag batching system includes a bulk bag discharger whose outlet is directly coupled to a feed control device such as a flexible screw conveyor. The feed device is typically supported by the bulk bag discharger support structure. A microprocessor based batch weigh controller is also included in any system. The following information is required to design a bulk bag unloader batching system: Batch size (min. and max.) Time to dispense batch (min. and max.) Tamped and untamped ingredient bulk density There [...]

Bulk Bag Filling can save your company money, if you are doing it right. Application: Bulk Bag Filling Overview: A plant ships a powder product in bulk bags. The bulk bag filling operation was under review due to a number of problems including unstable filled bulk bags, weighing inaccuracy, and low throughput. Situation: Spiroflow analyzed the plant’s filling process focusing on bulk bag design, storage and shipping, filling equipment, and the financial impact of the bulk bag filling operation. Ingredient: At 55 lb./ft.3 the product sells for $0.50/lb. Bulk Bag: The bulk bags hold 2,200 lbs. of product with an area of 40 ft³. [...]

Spiroflow Systems will exhibit a bulk bag unloader, aero mechanical conveyor and bin activator at the PTXi Texas Show in Houston, TX on October 13-14, 2015. Visitors can visit the company in booth #113 with their regional representatives, Approtec Ran Le. Spiroflow will exhibit the T5 ‘low loading’ bulk bag unloader that is designed to empty bulk bags in process areas with restricted headroom. The T5 bulk bag unloader is coupled directly to a flexible screw or other suitable conveyor which meters ingredients from the bag either volumetrically or by weight. Ingredients can then be fed directly to mixing or other […]

Companies around the world transport and handle large volumes of materials in bulk bags but unloading bulk bags can be a dusty mess if not managed properly. Let's examine what causes dust emissions. Bulk Bag Design: Unless a bulk bag has been specifically designed to contain the fines present in a given product, particles can sift through the bag fabric. This looks like smoke escaping from the bag as it is being handled and emptied. Depending on the amount of fines present in the product, the particle size and its shape, coated fabric may be all that is required to [...]
