A ‘Spiroflow’ Flexible Conveyor has been installed at Jacob’s Bakeries Ltd, factory in Aintree, Liverpool, UK. It feeds bags of brown flour directly into the mixer used to manufacture the base of Jacob’s famous ‘Club’ biscuits, ‘Gold’ biscuits and some of the biscuits for their packs of ‘Biscuits for Cheese’. This conveyor, installed in June 2009, is sited alongside the ‘Spiroflow’ Bulk Bag Discharger that feeds Oat Flour via an integral 5” diameter Flexible Screw Conveyor into a storage silo above the same mixer. According to the Site Projects Manager, David Rome, “The new Flexible Screw Conveyor ran first time […]

In response to the dairy industry in particular but, equally well suited for pharmaceutical and some food applications, Spiroflow we launched an all new Bulk Bag Discharger. It is for critical applications where hygiene and/or rapid dismantling without tools are essential to avoid micro-biological growth and/or cross-contamination between batches. The all new T11 model is manufactured entirely of stainless steel which can have a bead-blast or mirror polish finish. It can be completely striped down by two operatives in a matter of minutes and easily pressure-washed or manually cleaned/sterilised all over as there are no dead pockets. All electrical and […]

We have made some significant improvements to our range of Bulk Bag Fillers – all designed to increase filling accuracy and cycle time. The all new C Series Bulk Bag Filler is the model for users wanting to remove bags on a pallet by forklift truck. It retains the robust, 2 leg frame offering unimpeded access to the front of the filler for the easy hanging of empty bags. Dependent upon the application, filling can either controlled by volume or by weight. For customers wanting ‘Weights and Measures’ (OIML) approval, there is the option of an automatic ‘gain-in-weight’ weighing system […]

Keeling & Walker Ltd of Stoke-on-Trent, UK is the world’s largest producer of Tin Oxide. Not only is Tin Oxide a very abrasive material, it is very difficult to handle: it smears, doesn’t flow well and readily bridges. So, back in early 2007, when Operations Manager, Martyn Pedley, came to choose a replacement for a troublesome bucket elevator, he was concerned to find a conveyor that would be man enough for the job and, in addition, which would eliminate the fugitive emissions to improve the working environment too. The problems with the bucket elevator were caused by the abrasive product […]

Two of our ‘Spirofil’ Bulk Bag Fillers were key to the successful recycling of over 36,000 tons of sulfur. Sulfur is a by-product of diesel fuel that’s applied to the land as a fertiliser amongst its many other uses. Until recently, the market value of sulfur had remained depressed at $100 a ton, and for one the longest periods ever. This made the cost of recovery uneconomic so, it was just stockpiled as a result. However, when the price increased five-fold to $500 a ton at the end of 2007, recovery became a profit opportunity for the owners of an […]

We are delighted to have been entrusted to supply our highest accuracy ever ‘Spirofil’ Big Bag Filler to the world’s first industrial scale Nanotube manufacturing facility in Sambreville, Belgium. The customer, Nanocyl S.A., considered other suppliers too but Project Engineer, Michel Wattiaux, and Process Inventor, Christoph Bossout, were convinced by our guarantees of accuracy. Monsieur Wattiaux’s has also had an earlier, positive relationship with us, and our local agent, whilst working previously for a major Belgian chemical company. The order was secured with the assistance of PHC International, our experienced and well-respected agent in Belgium. Traditionally, for most industrial applications, […]
